Finally, a makeup in Japan post! Japan is expensive. I absolutely love the quality and effectiveness of Japanese cosmetics and skincare, but I’m not so much in love with the price. Even though I wanted to buy everything in sight, I stopped myself because I just couldn’t afford it. I never gave up on finding an affordable item that I could snatch up as a treat to myself though~ finally, the day came and I found a Chifure stand in a drugstore. I was so excited – I had went to a lot of drugstores, but here even the drugstore skincare and makeup are expensive.
I was instantly attracted to the stand filled with 315 yen lipsticks.. I swatched the heck out of a whole bunch of colors and finally decided to get #122, a sheer pink color that wasn’t too bold. Perfect for me. I was like a fasting person rushing to food, I hadn’t seen a cheap makeup line in so long. I was so happy to see Chifure.
I’m pretty much a newbie for lipstick and I’m still shy of bold colors. In fact, I used to think that lipstick is such an old lady thing to wear! I just kept picturing really old women with lipstick on their teeth. My myth was busted! This is a nice, natural transition that doesn’t stick out too much!
The lipstick is really sheer and very creamy when you apply it. It’s definitely not friendly to less than perfect lips as it sinks into fine lines. On my lips, it lasted a few hours without eating or drinking. It actually rubs off pretty easily, which I was sad about. Because of the rub off factor, you definitely have to apply a few coats to prolong wear.
What I ended up liking most about the Chifure lipsticks was the texture overall. They are extremely creamy and apply with minimal effort. For a cheap lipstick, the performance is great! They also have a wide variety of shades. Nothing out of the ordinary though, this is Japan after all.
The lipstick is infused with hyaluronic acid and macadamia nut oil, making it super moisturizing! It is also fragrance free, which I really liked – I have a big aversion to certain smells which can put me off an otherwise amazing product.
I like it and feel confident stepping out with this one! Now I wish I had bought more, but I held back so I could try this one first. Then I left Japan and lost my chance! Hopefully I’ll be able to visit soon and grab a few more. It may be time for me to get a little bolder with some new colors.
Q: Have you heard of or tried a Chifure lipstick? Do you prefer natural or bolder colors?
