What I Ate Wednesday: Back on Track!
Whew, I’m back for another post of What I Ate Wednesday!
(Breakfast, around 10)
Hmm, breakfast time! I decided to give myself a treat this morning and had a Nature’s Path Organic Berry Strawberry Toaster Pastry with my usual green tea and honey. Pop tarts were a staple when I was growing up, and although I eat much healthier now, I still crave that comfort food from my past! I actually realized about a year ago that most of the Pop tarts contain gelatin, so I couldn’t eat them anyways! These toaster pastries from Nature’s Path pack a lot of sugar, but at least it is organic and doesn’t have gelatin! It’s a nice treat every once in awhile.
(Lunch, around 1pm)
My eating has been totally out of whack lately, and I haven’t been making the best choices unfortunately. I can feel it every time I hit the gym, you just feel blah! I wanted to get back on track today so I made sure to have a nice lunch. I made a simple lemon chicken pasta with a side of Arabic salad to get some more veggies in. It was delicious!
(Snack, around 3)
Hmm, Fage. I can’t get enough of this Greek yogurt. Kroger had a 10 for 10 sale and I had to stock up! For some reason, I rarely find Fage on sale in the store and it is a little pricy at more than $1 per cup. But they are hands down the best tasting Greek yogurt I’ve ever eaten! Plus, each cup has 13g (!) of protein, so it really helps me stay full until dinner. I have it after I workout a lot as well!
(Dinner, 6:30ish)
Dinner was a bit of a rush, or rather I was too lazy to plan anything out. I whipped up a sandwich for my hubby and decided to make myself a BLT salad. It was basically just spinach, turkey bacon, cheese, avocado and a few spoonfuls of Arabic salad with ranch. I have this salad pretty often, I love the flavor combo!
(Post Workout Snack, 9pm)
I went for my usual cardio kickboxing session and I wasn’t really expecting to eat again but what can I say? The hunger hit me.
Since I left Japan I haven’t been getting nearly as much seaweed in my diet as before, sadly. I love the stuff though! I really like Annie Chun’s seaweed snacks but almost all of them are good really. Oh, how I miss the food of Japan!
And that is it! I think I did pretty well today, and I’m back on track with my eating. I wasn’t really paying attention this last week due to stress so I was just eating whatever was the most convenient, sigh. I don’t want to get stuck in that rut!
What are some ways that you make sure you are making healthy choices for your meals?
